About Us
Enlightened Minds is owned and Clinically Led by Gemma Holmes, HCPC Registered and Chartered Psychologist, CBT Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Trainer.
Gemma has over twenty years’ experience of working in mental health settings, ranging from secure forensic psychiatric inpatient services to general adult/private outpatient clinics. As such, Gemma has experience working with a wide range of psychological difficulties and disorders including anxiety, depression, phobias, OCD, addictions, trauma, attachment and relational difficulties, psychosis and offending behaviour. Gemma has trained extensively in several different therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Mindfulness and uses Schema and Compassion Focussed approaches.
Gemma holds an Advanced Professional Practice Certificate in the Supervision of Counsellors and Psychotherapists from Strathclyde University and is registered with the British Psychological Society as a RAPPS Accredited Clinical Supervisor. Gemma is also on the BPS Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy (ROPSIP).
Gemma also has a specialist interest in neurodivergence and in the assessment of ADHD and Autism. Gemma completed her ADHD assessment & diagnosis training via Kings College London /UKAAN and has completed formal, accredited training in the assessment of Autism (ASD). Gemma trained and worked initially at the prestigious Harley Psychiatry Clinic, London, providing ADHD assessments for adults. Gemma now offers adult ADHD and Autism (ASD) assessments here at Enlightened Minds via remote videocall.

Our Philosophy
Here at Enlightened Minds, our aim is to offer accessible psychological assessments for children & adults in Ayrshire and beyond.
Our primary goal is to enable children and adults who have struggled with undiagnosed ADHD and Autism to access formal diagnostic assessment and support, without the barriers of long waiting times.
Enlightened Minds can offer formal assessment for children and adults with ADHD and Autism (Autism Spectrum Disorder /ASD). We also provide specialist interventions in the form of Post Diagnostic Support Sessions, Coaching and Study Skills.
We have clinics based in Ayr, Glasgow and Edinburgh, however we also offer our services across the UK via remote and online methods.

Our clinics provide a professional, warm, and welcoming atmosphere where you can wait comfortably in the private waiting area before your session.
Toilet facilities are on site and the service is centrally located for ease of access to all transport links in addition to ample on street parking directly adjacent to our centres.
We also have a network of associate therapists and clinicians across the UK.

We work alongside both NHS and private care pathways. If you’re seeking a quicker private diagnostic route, we can guide you through it and support liaison with other services as needed.
A formal diagnosis of ADHD or Autism can help with accessing support at work, education or other settings. We don’t provide workplace legal advice, but we help you understand what your diagnosis may mean and recommend next steps.
Many private health insurance policies will cover diagnostic assessments and therapy; we advise clients to check their individual policy for details. We can also provide invoice/receipt documentation for claims.
After diagnosis, we offer follow-on therapy, skills training (executive function, emotional regulation), coaching, and local referral options in Ayr, Edinburgh and Glasgow to help you apply your diagnosis in real life.
